Since the program’s inception more than 70 years ago, The Chicago Athenaeum has continued to organize it in order to raise public awareness of modern design and to recognize products and manufacturers who have blazed new trails in innovation and raised the bar for goods that can compete on a global scale. Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. formed Good Design® in Chicago in 1950. In 1950, Mort Goldsholl also designed the well-known Good Design logo.
The Good Design Award for 2019 was given by DEUCE.
