Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

Following the implementation of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the "Act") section 54, WaiTech, a company incorporated in Hong Kong, and its related companies, including WaiTech Europe Ltd, a company established in England and Wales, make this policy statement against slavery and human trafficking (6).

Our Commitment

WaiTech Global is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in all areas of our business and fully supports the Act's goals.

Our Company

We at WaiTech Global, which employs 3000 people across four nations, are experts in the production, design, sales, and distribution of a wide range of consumer electronics products and services. We primarily supply BT, Panasonic, Motorola, Apple, and Philips products.

Our Supply Chain

The BSCI code of conduct, which forbids the use of forced, bonded, indentured, or involuntary jail labor, has been adopted by WaiTech. We conduct supplier audits in accordance with this code and do not accept any sort of non-conformance. WaiTech also has internal guidelines and procedures based on global labor and human rights standards. Along with our supply chain, we seek to foster a culture where people are free to choose their place of employment and where slavery and human trafficking are not accepted.

Due Diligence & Risk Assessment

WaiTech conducts evaluations of potential suppliers and routine supply chain risk checks. In addition, WaiTech does internal audits and onsite supplier audits as considered appropriate to confirm that our supply chains adhere to the BSCI code of conduct and all applicable laws, rules, and policies. These audits are conducted by our internal team using the standardized audit procedures created by the BSCI. We continue to work with each supplier who has been audited to create plans for mitigating any audit results.

Employee Recruitment & Training

WaiTech does not use any third-party employment agencies as part of our recruitment process control system, nor do we require any fees or deposits in order to join the company. All of our staff members have employment agreements with SGW Global and were all employed directly by us. WaiTech provides all necessary equipment free of charge. This includes work attire, an ID badge, and a health examination, among other things. For the duration of employment, WaiTech neither requests nor holds any personal documents such an ID card, certificates, or diplomas. In order to help our employees recognize the hazards of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains, WaiTech develops training for the appropriate employees and places a high priority on educating our staff about human rights concerns. Our staff are urged to use our reporting processes to report any issues through this training. The Board of Directors for and on behalf of WaiTech has given their approval to this statement.

Minerals from Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas: WaiTech Corporate Policy.

The environment and the communities in which we operate are important to WaiTech. WaiTech anticipates that our supply chain will source minerals ethically and steer clear of suppliers that support conflict either directly or indirectly. Conflict minerals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other high-risk regions throughout the world are included in this. To reduce risks in this area, WaiTech has put the following rules and procedures in place:

  • Perform due diligence to ensure ethical sourcing in all high-risk regions and locations, and demand that our suppliers do the same.
  • Make use of and promote the OECD Due Diligence Guidelines for Responsible Supply Chains from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas to our suppliers and other contacts.
  • In order to promote peaceful, varied, and stable economies, support the work of important stakeholders, including governmental agencies, business associations, and other concerned organizations.
  • Boycott the DRC or neighboring nations while promoting an ethical and sustainable mineral commerce.
  • Maintain your support for, participation in, and investment in the Corporate Social Compliance Initiative ( BSCI).
  • Utilize the Conflict-Free Smelter Program (CFSP) and the RBA Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) to only source from smelters that have been verified by standards recognized by the industry.
  • Conduct outreach directly to smelters or refiners of non-conflict minerals
Wherever our products are supplied around the world, WaiTech complies with all regulatory regulations regarding conflict mineral sourcing and disclosure obligations. We are dedicated to obtaining only conflict-free minerals and employing minerals from smelters that have passed CFSP or comparable programs’ audits and verifications. WaiTech anticipates having no conflicts with either itself or its suppliers.
